So, I could guess at the time of today, it was too late since the devs are no longer existed. It's also the other reason why they can't talk about it until recently due to their contrats done with Microsoft. Microsoft actually asked the devs (every company) to pay the fee for patching their game which it's around ten of thousands of dollars, that was NO joke.
